1. What do you do?
“I work as a marketing, communication and event manager in a Company but I am trying to have some more side photography projects and build my own portfolio to eventually go freelancing. “
2. What steps did you take to get where you are now?
I started taking more pictures, networking outside my daily job, delivering new project and curating my social media page sharing more of what I do.
3. For other people in your field, what do they usually lack?
Perhaps, you were in that position once, what did you do to get ahead?
Unfortunately, photography in Hong Kong is very competitive, but I think it’s missing good photographers with competitive packages and prices. Besides, my photography style focuses on natural light, also something that is not particularly contemplated in Hong Kong.
4. What are you working on right now?
My own portfolio, website and branding.
5. What's your style/perspective/taste? Do you have a project that represents this?
The Social Food is my biggest inspo. I love these guys, they are simply amazing in what they do -- > https://thesocialfoodstudio.com
6. We all have multiple skills or work in various industries, which one do you wish you could focus on more?
Simply having more time to go outside shooting and organise photography projects.
7. What is frustrating you right now?
What is making your job/business/project hard to move forward? What task keeps landing at the bottom of the To-Do list? Lack of time due to my full-time job is very demanding as I am alone in my team/ field.
8. If you could hire someone for $20/hour, what would you have them do to make your day easier?
Organise my pictures and projects in folders and do a good archive of my work.
9. Let's bring out the time machine. What do you wish you could have told yourself, when, and why?
Go to art school, don’t think about the job possibilities just keep creating – I went to math & chemistry school instead.
10. If you could talk to an expert to gain more insight on something, what would it be about?
Studio Photography
11. What kind of opportunities/projects are you looking for?
My targets are small business, restaurants and designers that are looking to build their brand and create contents to help them with the photography and marketing guidelines.
12. Describe your ideal client/job/collaboration.
What we just did a couple of weeks ago with Hayley Lyla for designer Katerin Theys beautiful clothes. Collaborating with a KOL and model with a vision close to mine, fun to work with, to bring to life great images for brands.
13. What is your hourly rate, retainer, or salary range? If it depends on the project, give us some examples of projects and the cost.
Still figuring out my packages per edited pictures/ hours.
My ideal way of working is to propose monthly-based packages to my clients with a final total number of edited pictures.
For one-time collabs, go per half-day/ day pricing.
14. How should someone approach you about working together?
I guess many people just approach you vi IG, or in-person through networking. That’s totally fine. I don’t love using What’s App for work, I prefer email.
15. Who's in your Go-To Squad?
We want to know the folks you constantly recommend people to. What's their name, email, and why they are awesome? Add as many people as you want.
It would take me 3 days to fill this up LOL. I usually try to help my friends as much as I can, especially if they have their small business and projects.
Last one! How do you "Stay Creative"?
Spend time outdoor without my phone, clear my head, reset, think.
